Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS), Detective Department sleuths warned public not to fall prey to fraudsters claiming to be from Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA). The impersonators posing as IRDA authorities contact the public on mobile phones stating that they had lapsed their insurance policy and the attached bonus money was lying idle in IRDA, Mumbai and was ready to be settled on claim,” DCP (DD), Ravi Varma, said adding that the fraudsters insist public to deposit money in their accounts to claim such money.

“Hence, the citizens are informed to be alert and beware of such anonymous calls. They should not give any financial account information to unknown sources. Government or financial agencies will never ask for any bank account numbers, credit/debit card details, insurance policy details or redeem the policies over mails or phones,” the officer explained.
