12 injured at Tekkali as lorry hits bus

srikakulam: Twelve persons were injured when a lorry hit private bus from behind on National Highway (NH) -16 at Sasanam junction in Tekkali mandal on Monday. According to details, the bus was going towards Itchapuram from Tekkali. The bus driver stopped the vehicle suddenly at the junction to pick up passengers. A lorry coming from behind hit the bus. Consequently, 12 persons sustained injuries. An old woman who sustained severe injuries was shifted to Srikakulam government RIMS hospital while remaining 11 injured being treated at Tekkali government hospital. Police registered a case and are investigating. According to the police, about 27 passengers were on board in the bus when the accident occurred.
