Mancherial (Adilabad): Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught a computer operator Chandramouli red-handed while accepting Rs 4,500 from a canteen contractor, Krishna, at the Child Development Project Office (CDPO) at Mandamarri on Wednesday.

Krishna has been running a canteen for some time at the CDPO. Apart from that, he also rented out his car to the CDP Officer Ashalatha. Krishna said that the officer has been troubling him by not paying car rent for the past five months. He alleged that Ashalatha has been delaying payment by saying that budget was not released.

Krishna asked Ashalatha to clear his rental payment after budget was cleared. But, the CDP Officer demanded Krishna to pay her Rs 4500 to clear car rent. Krishna agreed to pay her the amount she demanded. However, Ashalatha also told him that she would pay rent for only 4 months instead of five months. He approached the ACB officials as he would suffer a loss of Rs 24,000, a month’s rent.

The ACB sleuths caught Chandramouli while accepting the bribe from Krishna on behalf of CDP Officer. ACB DSP T Sudarshan Goud said that they have registered a case and took computer operator into custody. He stated that the ACB would probe the role of higher officials including CDP Officer. “Action would be initiated against officials if they are found guilty,” he said.
