Home Guard reinstatement issue

Hyderabad: The Raidurgam police on Monday arrested five persons in connection with the submitting of forged Home Guards reinstatement orders to AP Administrative Tribunal (APAT). Monday’s arrest of Kotam Balakrishna Reddy, 43, (ARPC 2297), a Reserve Inspector (RI), Amberpet, proved crucial as he disclosed the names of other accused who were identified as Md Afroz Khan, 27, Md Ghani Khan, 27, Shaik Areef, 24 and Md Ali Khan, 25.

Police busted the racket on October 24 last year and found that as many as 63 men sought to join the Cyberabad Police as Home Guards, submitted reinstatement orders from the APAT. They had apparently submitted forged dismissal orders and other documents to the tribunal and posed as ‘distressed’ cops seeking justice. Police got suspicious after they noticed a surge in the number of dismissed Home Guards approaching the APAT and getting reinstatement orders.

There were 451 reinstatements of Home Guards. After internal enquiries, CP, Cyberabad ordered a probe. It then came to light that 63 civilians got reinstatement orders by submitting forged papers to the APAT. Investigators, who suspected the role of some officials of the Home Guards’ wing of the police department, took up investigation. The accused persons were remanded to judicial custody.
