Farmer commits suicide over crop damage

Karimnagar: A farmer Ravi (24), committed suicide by consuming pesticide in Jagtial. He took the extreme step on Sunday evening upset over crop damage due to gales and unseasonal rain. He died while undergoing treatment in the hospital on Tuesday morning.

Ravi went into depression after the rains damaged his standing crop. He had decided to end his life and consumed pesticide at Jagtial on Sunday. Alerted family members immediately shifted him to the district headquarters hospital, where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment. A resident of Kothawada of Jagtial, Ravi, unmarried, sowed paddy in four acres including 2.5 acres tenant land and the entire crop got damaged due to gale and hailstorm.
