Lake Police rescue woman attempting suicide
The Lake Police saved a woman who tried to commit suicide by jumping into Tank Bund late on Friday night. On the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, 24-year-old Komari Shailaja was seen wandering near Upper Tank Bund. Minutes later, she began walking into the water, police said adding that she tried to jump into the water.
Hyderabad: The Lake Police saved a woman who tried to commit suicide by jumping into Tank Bund late on Friday night. On the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, 24-year-old Komari Shailaja was seen wandering near Upper Tank Bund. Minutes later, she began walking into the water, police said adding that she tried to jump into the water.
A constable, Salla Raju and Home Guard Kishan Naik attached to the Lake police, spotted the woman and rushed to her rescue. They caught hold of the woman and dragged her to safety. She was later counselled and sent back to her family at Afzalgunj.
“She appears to be mentally depressed and said that her husband tortures her physically over petty issues. Due to unbearable harassment, she tried to end her life," Lake Police Inspector, K Sreedevi said.
