Hyderabad: Tension built up on the Osmania University campus as an agitating student Sivannarayana suffered burns accidentally on Wednesday. The bizarre incident happened when the students staged a protest condemning the cash-for-vote scam in which T TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy was one of the accused.


The students, as part of agitation, resorted to burning the effigy of Revanth Reddy. When the students poured petrol on the effigy to set it on fire, drops of fuel fell on Sivannarayana. It led to the student sustaining burns.


The students doused the flames and rushed him to Gandhi Hospital. The police deployed personnel on the campus. The police foiled the attempt by students to take out procession to Cherlapally jail to protest against the release of Revanth Reddy on bail.
