Thief held; 10 laptops recovered
The crime team of SR Nagar police on Friday arrested a person who was allegedly involved in theft of laptops under the limits of various police stations Hyderabad Police Commissionerate. The police recovered 10 laptops from his possession. Police said that Uddipta Das alias Babula, 25, a native of Assam, had stolen the laptops from different hostels in the city.

Hyderabad: The crime team of SR Nagar police on Friday arrested a person who was allegedly involved in theft of laptops under the limits of various police stations Hyderabad Police Commissionerate. The police recovered 10 laptops from his possession. Police said that Uddipta Das alias Babula, 25, a native of Assam, had stolen the laptops from different hostels in the city.
Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths apprehended Uddipta at Adithya Trade Center. “Uddipta came to Hyderabad in 2014 and started staying at a hostel. During his stay, he closely observed the movement of the hostelites in SR Nagar, Bapu Nagar, Yellareddyguda, Ameerpet. He would enter the hostels in early hours on the pretext of searching for his friend.
If the inmates wake up, he would take some fictitious name and ask for that person. If the rooms are unlocked, he would collect laptops and slip out,” ACP (Punjagutta) M Venkateshwarlu said.
