Hyderabad: Considering the ‘passport scam’ as a case of high-priority, the Central Crime Station (CCS) police are thoroughly probing the case in order to find out the middlemen and officers of various departments who had helped the illegal immigrants acquire Indian Passports.

The investigators are also consulting senior officers of various departments which had sanctioned Indian identifications to foreign nationals. The police seized over 100 fake documents like voter identification cards, Aadhaar cards, PAN (Permanente Account Number) cards and date of birth certificates from six illegal immigrants including an associate of banned terror outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami’s leader on August 14, on a tip-off that the illegal immigrants were acquiring Indian Passports using fake documents.

The investigators are understood to have learnt that Masood Ali Khan of Chanchalguda and his relative Sohail Parvez Khan of Balapur in Hyderabad, who helped the illegal immigrants have some contacts with the officials of various government departments.
The city police are preparing grounds to take the issue to the heads of the concerned departments to find the details of persons who had issued the voter IDs, Aadhar cards, date of birth certificates and affidavits to the arrested illegal immigrants that helped them to get passports on local residential addresses.

The police are keen on collecting data before taking the custody of accused persons for questioning, it is learnt. In a joint operation by the City Task Force and CCS police, six persons, Mohammed Nasir (52), Bangladeshi national and resident of Pakistan, Faizal Mohamoud (24), a Bangladeshi, Joynal Abedin (30), a Bangladeshi, 18-year-old Myanmar national Zia-ur-Rehman, Mohammed Masood Ali Khan and Sohail Parvez Khan of Balapur were arrested from a photostat shop belonging to Masood Ali Khan at Chanchalguda on August 14.

Additional Commissioner (Crimes and Special Investigation Teams) Swati Lakra told The Hans India that as part of the investigation, details of the middlemen, officers and others who were involved in sanctioning identification cards pertaining to the State and Union governments were being collected and they would be arrested soon.

“The special branch police who are responsible for passports being issued to the illegal immigrants, officers and middlemen involved will also be arrested in the case. We are probing systematically not to let any person involved in the case go free,” the Additional Commissioner said.
