Sub-inspector commits suicide in RR district

Hyderabad: A sub-inspector of police, Ramesh, attached to the Yalal police station in Rangareddy district, committed suicide by hanging from a tree on Tuesday night.

But the family members of Ramesh, alleging that he was murdered, staged a sit-in on Wednesday and demanded judicial probe into the incident.

The sub-inspector, belonging to 2012 batch, was found hanging from a tree near Kandanaelly village under Pdamul mandal. He got married in 2014. His wife Geeta is four months pregnant.

According to sources, Ramesh on Tuesday night sent two SMSes – one to his wife Geeta and another to a constable of Yalal police station. One SMS read “Kandanelly Chinta Chettu (tamarind tree) and another “Forgive.”

Geeta alerted the police immediately. A police party on reaching Kandanelly found the sub-inspector’s body dangling from the tree. The family members staged a protest when Minister for Transport Mahender Reddy visited the scene.

The family member said there were no compelling circumstances nor were there family problems for Ramesh to commit suicide. The body was shifted to TAndur government hospital for postmortem.
