Eluru: A burglar broke open the house of a bank manager here at Pension Line and decamped with cash and gold ornaments total worth Rs 8 lakh in the early hours on Friday.
Police said that the burglar entered the house of B M Suguna Das in the early hours when all the inmates were asleep. Suguna Das is working as branch manager of Indian Bank here.
The burglar gained entry into the house from the rear door. As he was leaving the house after stealing Rs 1.50 lakh and 10 sovereigns of gold,
the bank manager’s daughter woke up and raised an alarm. The inmates of the house and their neighbours chased the burglar. However, he managed to escape with the booty. II town police are investigating.
