New Delhi: Ramaraju Sandesh (21), a second year B Sc (Marine Sciences) student of the high profile Amity University of Greater Noida, was shot dead on Saturday afternoon at his flat allegedly by his batchmates.

According to the UP police, the culprits Aman and Mintu who shot Sandesh in his flat located on the 13th floor of Lotus Boulevard near his college are friends of the victim, who hails from Nalgonda's Srinagar Colony.

According to an eyewitness Nadeem, his flatmate who was in the room, the culprits came to the flat and rang the alarm bell. As another roommate Madhur had gone out to fetch some groceries, Sandesh opened the door.

As soon as he opened the door, Nadeem heard two gun shots being fired and rushed to find Sandesh collapsed in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead due to the bullet injuries to the head.

Sandesh's father Shyam Sundar is a manager of the cooperative bank at Nalgonda. He reached Noida on Sunday morning. What surprised the police was the fact that there was no security at the entry and exit gates of the residential complex which is a norm.

Entry to the housing societies is highly restricted in the National Capital Region with the security personnel seeking confirmation of the residents through a CCTV connection before letting visitors inside.

It is said that the high end Lotus Boulevard had no security system at all except for an ordinary watchman manning the entry point. The culprits entered a wrong flat number in the log book to gain entry, the police found out.
