No bail for murder accused

Justice Raja Elango of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday refused to enlarge on bail the accused in the brutal murder of two sisters - Sree Lekha and Yamini - at their residence at Chaitanyapuri near Kothapet in the city in July this year.

It is contended that the petitioner, one Amit Singh, stabbed Sree Lekha for spurning his love. When her elder sister Yamini tried to stop the assailant, she was also repeatedly stabbed to death. The police had launched a massive manhunt and arrested the petitioner.

When the petitioner approached the district court, the XI Metropolitan Magistrate, Cyberabad, Ranga Reddy rejected the bail petition. The counsel for the government informed the court that there was a risk of the petitioner absconding if enlarged on bail.
