Unable to come to terms with the extramarital affair of her husband with another woman, a housewife allegedly committed suicide after killing her two children at Bestharapalli village in Kundurpi mandal in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to locals, Naresh (29), a village secretary, married Lakshmi (25) four years ago. The couple got Bharat (2) and an 8-month-old boy. It is said that Naresh used to quarrel with his wife often. Vexed with her husband’s `illicit relationship’ and `quarrelsome behaviour', Lakshmi resorted to the extreme step on Tuesday.
She killed her two sons first by immersing them in a water tub. Later, she hanged herself from a ceiling fan. On hearing the news of a woman’s suicide, police rushed to the village and sent the bodies for post-mortem. A case was registered and investigation is on.
