Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday raided the house of former Director of Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Dharmarakshak and two others following allegations of financial irregularities in the purchase of a medical equipment during his tenure.
The ACB, which searched the house of Dharmarakshak, seized several documents pertaining to the purchase of medical equipment. During the verification of various documents and examination of various witnesses, it was revealed that gross violations were made in tender and purchasing of operation theatre tables, lights and ventilators, according to ACB sources.
The ACB said there were complaints that the equipment was purchased at very high rate than the competitive market prices and it caused loss to a tune of Rs 3.03 crore to exchequer.
The irregular tenders had also caused corresponding advantage to the suppliers of the medical equipment. ACB Director General A K Khan said based on the facts of the inquiry, a case of criminal misconduct has been registered against Dharmarakshak, Dr D Mukund Reddy (retired officer), the then Additional Superintendent of NIMS and V Sridhar, Financial Controller of NIMS and some others on Wednesday.
Teams led by ACB DSP Ravikumar conducted simultaneous searches at the houses of Dharmarakshak at Banjara Hills, house of Mukund Reddy at Jubilee Hills and house of Sridhar at Ashok Nagar. The officers also searched the offices of the private persons who supplied equipment to the NIMS during the tenure of Dharmarakshak.
