Lift turns killer for play school girl
In a ghastly mishap, a four-year-old girl was killed as she was stuck between the lift and the first floor of the play school she was studying near Moosarambagh at Dilsukhnagar area in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning.

The victim, Syeda Fatima Jaffri, was a student of Sri Chaitanya’s Star Kids School. How she got stuck under the lift is still a mystery, but the police found that the inside grill door of the lift was not working and it was being operated dangerously with only the outside door. There is neither CCTV footage or witnesses to the incident.
According to sources, around 9.15 am, several children and a woman teacher entered the lift and pressed the button to go to the third floor. The students jostled for space in the lift and somehow a girl’s hand was stuck
in the lift. The lift suddenly stopped and the students and teachers inside the lift rushed out. When they came downstairs to check the problem, they noticed Syeda Fatima’s head stuck between the lift and the first floor. The police who rushed to the scene of incidence struggled for about an hour to pull the child out of the lift. As the news spread, the public and parents of the other children staged a protest outside the school demanding action against the school management and blocked the road. The enraged public withdrew the protest after the police assured to deliver justice.
East Zone DCP A Ravinder rushed to the spot and inquired about the incident. “We will investigate the matter and all the lapses will be put on record. Inquiry is on to find out how the incident occurred. Action will be taken against the responsible persons,” the DCP told the media.
District Education Officer M Somi Reddy said the school had been seized and two persons were arrested in the incident. Following the complaint by the deceased girl’s mother, the Malakpet police registered a case under Section 304 A of the IPC, for causing death by negligence against the school management and the principal and the teacher were arrested.
