Peddapalli (Karimnagar): In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman died after she was kicked by a supervisor of a bricks manufacturing unit near Hanumanthunipeta village of Peddapalli mandal on Thursday.
Surajare (30) who hailed from Arjunagaon village of Kalahandi in Odisha was four-month pregnant and was working at HBT bricks manufacturing unit.
The unit owner Shyam allegedly kicked the pregnant woman on her stomach while she was taking rest during work on Thursday. Seeing the woman in acute pain, her family members rusher her to a hospital but she died on the way.
Enraged over the incident, the family members of the deceased and workers of the bricks unit staged a dharna in front of Peddapalli labour office.
With the assurance of Labour Officer Neelima to look into the matter and to take action against the owner of the brick manufacturing unit, they withdrew their agitation.
Jitender, the husband of the deceased, said henchmen of Shyam and supervisor of the unit beat his wife even though he pleaded them not to. He sought the officials to take serious action against Shyam and also to close the bricks unit. They have three children. Peddapalli Sub Inspector A Jaganmohan said they had not received any complaint in this regard.
