Tandur (Ranga Reddy): Financial problems and family disputes drove a man to suicide at Gingurthy village in the mandal on Wednesday night. Fearing that his mother and sister would become orphans after his death, he allegedly set them ablaze before immolating himself. However, his brother escaped unhurt by sensing his brother's suicide plan.

According to locals, Chippa Lakshmibai (66) who lost her husband a few years ago, was living along with her sons Satya Vijay Kumar (31), Chandra Prakash and daughter Bhima Jyothi (28). Satya Vijay’s wife left him. The couple has a son. Jyothi was abandoned by her husband. A warrant was issued against Satya Vijay in connection with a case recently.

Left with no option to overcome all these problems, he decided to commit suicide along with his family members. He procured 20 litres of kerosene. He set Lakshmibai and Jyothi ablaze after dousing them with kerosene while they were fast asleep. Later, he set himself ablaze. Chandra Prakash who woke up to the noise, saved his life. Lakshmibai and Jyothi were burnt alive.

Satya Vijay succumbed to burns while being shifted to hospital. On hearing the news of family suicide, Ranga Reddy District SP Rama Rajeswari, ASP Chandana Deepthi and Circle Inspector Saidi Reddy visited the village. A case was registered.
