Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at Chandanagar Police Station on Friday when a large number of people staged a protest demanding the probe into the missing of four minor girls Tuesday. Efforts are on to trace the girls and would be rescued soon, said police.

According to Chandanagar police, Swapna (12), Renuka (9) and Kaveri (8), residents of RC Puram and Padma (10) of Shanti Nagar in Chandanagar were studying in an Anganwadi school. All the girls were relatives and their parents were daily wage labourers.

The girls generally would play with a neighbouring girl in Shanti Nagar. On Tuesday, they went out in the morning and Padma’s father saw them last playing near Channa Reddy Hospital at 4.30 pm, assuming that the children would return home soon.

When Padma’s father returned home, he found that the girls did not return till late in the night, said police. Police said that the girls’ parents searched for them in the neighbourhood and also lodged a complaint.

Preliminary enquiries revealed that one of the girls, Swapna went missing from home sometime ago, but came back in a few days.
