Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, Joint Commissioner P Hari Kumar said that Sk Jilani (20) of Ajith Singhnagar and his friends Sk Shabbir alias Bade (20), G Chandrasekhar (22), V Lakshmi Narayana (20) and M Sivanaga Sai Ganesh (20) work as wood polishers in the same area.
Vijayawada: A group of five who were involved in extortion of money from passengers and public near the Railway station were taken into custody by the city police on Wednesday. Four cell phones, Rs 7,200 in cash and two motorcycles were seized from their possession.

They invested their earnings in making merry and resorted to threaten people for money.As a part of it, they robbed a person called Rajamanga Raju of Payakapuram who was going home on a bicycle. Later, they attacked a pedestrian near Patama Ballemvari Street and snatched Rs 4,000 from him. They were involved in five such cases registered across various police stations in the city.
