​Hyderabad: The Hayathnagar police on Monday arrested three persons on the charge of smuggling ganja from East Godavari and seized two tons of ganja worth Rs 2 crore from the accused.

On credible information, the teams of Hayathnagar police intercepted a DCM van at Abdullapurmet on NH 65 at around 5.30 pm on Sunday. When checked, the police found huge quantity of ganja packed in plastic bags.
The accused were identified as, P Naga Raju (29) of Dornakal in Warangal district, G Raju (43) and C Veera Babu (29) of Gokaram village.

During questioning, it was found that Naga Raju was acting as a guide by taking directions from the handler in city, while Raju was driving the van and Babu was his helper. “The accused were transporting ganja from Tuni in East Godavari to Hyderabad.

The driver had accepted to transport ganja on the payment of Rs 80,000 for trip. Investigation is on to find the sellers and buyers. Ganja worth Rs 2 crore, three phones, a van and Rs 5,000 cash has been seized,” said LB Nagar DCP Tafseer Iqbal.
