Toddler run over by school van

​Vijayawada: In a heartwrenching incident, a toddler was crushed to death by a school van in Krishna district on Thursday. The little boy’s mother who was occupied with helping her daughter get into the school van could not notice the toddler approach the van.

The one-and-a -half-years-old crawled up to the van only to get run over. A pall of gloom descended on their home village Kuderu in Pamidimukkala mandal following the incident.

According to Pamidimukkala Sub-Inspector Srinivas, the deceased Veerla Geetha Krishna was born to an agriculture labour Veerla Raja Sekhar and Aruna Kumari. The little boy crawled just behind his mother who was busy helping her daughter get into the school bus.

Little did she know that her son would do this and by the time she noticed him under the school bus, the driver pulled off smashing the infant under tyres.

She fell unconscious as soon as the incident took place. Meanwhile, driver of the minivan Seethala Subba Rao was taken into custody. The boy’s remains were sent for an autopsy to Vuyyur hospital.
