Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police on Thursday arrested Film Nagar Cultural Centre chairman KS Rama Rao and vice-president Rajashekar Reddy on charges of causing death to two workers due to negligence in taking preventive measures during construction of a portico.

It may be recalled that two labourers working at the FNCC were killed and 10 others suffered injuries when the portico collapsed on July 24.

The police had booked a case against FNCC chairman KS Rama Rao, secretary Raja Shekar Reddy, engineer Sudhakar Rao, contractor Konda Rao and others under Section 304 (A), 337 and 338 of IPC.

Soon after the incident, the GHMC seized the building for carrying out construction illegally. It was confirmed that the contractor used substandard material in construction of pillars of the portico which led to its collapse.
