Six drug peddlers including two foreigners arrested

​Hyderabad: City police on Monday arrested six drug peddlers including two foreign nationals and seized 370 grams of cocaine in all from their possession apart from some cash, mobile phones, car and a motor cycle.

The arrests were made by the north and west zone teams of the Commissioner’s task force in a joint operation with the Jubilee Hills police.

Acting on a tip off, the city police nabbed all the six accused, seized different quantities of cocaine – all weighing 370 grams – from the accused, 12 mobile phones, car and motor cycle and Rs 46,000 in cash from the accused, police said.

The arrested include Mandela James of South Africa, Drake Owen of Ghana, Abhishek Kumar of Madhapur, G Srinivasulu of Andhra Pradesh, J E Naveen Kumar and M Srinivas of Karnataka.

Police said Mandela and Drake frequently travel between Mumbai and their native place on business visa since they are into garment exports. The duo, however, took to drug peddling to make quick bucks. They speak their native dialect to communicate and procure cocaine from the peddlers belonging to their countries living in India.

The four Indians arrested along with the foreign nationals are drug addicts and also sell the narcotic substance to make some money. They came in touch with the foreign nationals while looking for drugs, police said.

Interestingly, Abhishek and G Srinivasulu were caught with drugs by the SR Nagar police in the year 2012. Later, they came in touch with the foreign nationals at a party in Mumbai and since then they were buying the narcotic substance from them, police said.

The four Indian nationals contacted Mandela separately and each one of them sought the narcotics substance to be delivered at Hyderabad for their personal use. Accordingly, the two foreign nationals arrived in Hyderabad and met the accused near Jubilee Hills Check Post to deliver cocaine, police said.
