Hyderabad: The National Science Day has been celebrated at Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology on Saturday, with the intention to spread the message of the importance of science and its application among the budding engineers. The Science Day was inaugurated by the Director Dr P Venugopal Reddy, Presided by the Academic Coordinator Srilatha and organised by HOD, H&S Professor M Rajendra Prasad.

The Students of First Year and the faculty of the H&S department in coordination with the other engineering departments conducted the event with great fervor. Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology has always focused on integrating Science, Technology and Engineering to improve the students in developing key skills to understand, what problems engineers tackle, what questions scientists investigate and the influence of the products of science and engineering on the society.

Various events were scheduled designed to encourage scientific temperament and promote better understanding of concepts of pure science among the first year students. The Science Day saw a torrent of enthusiastic students participating in the competitions of Project Exhibition, Poster Presentation, Paper Presentation, E- Essay Writing and Elocution. Winners were awarded with merit certificates and all entrants received a certificate of participation.

One of the dilemmas in engineering education today is how engineers can best assimilate the fundamental and advanced knowledge of Science, Technology and Engineering for future needs. The competitions conferred the students with an opportunity to expand their knowledge base obligatory for an engineer of any discipline to master.

The Students displayed fervent interest bringing out 23 unique projects, 25 Posters, 30 Paper Presentations, 70 E- Essays and 24 Oral presentations through Elocution.

The Project Exhibits had very innovative Model Projects showcased. With students presenting a unique model developed on “Signal Jump Indicator” a low cost project using basic Receiver & Transmitter Technology which can be further improvised using Audino technology. The Poster Presentations competition brought about an assortment of Posters- the key components of effective presentations, which are a snap shot of the excellent ideas of the students who delivered their content ideas while interacting with individual viewers.

The Paper Presentation Competition students emphasised the value of ability to deliver clear, concise and effective oral presentations, in spheres particularly pertaining to essential technologies to accelerate the pace of science in which an engineer is or should be involved.

The E- Essay Competition is an opportunity for all students keen in participating in multiple events using technical skills and scientific temperament to present effective writing skills.

The Elocution Competition has given the students a prospect to confidently present their views with varied disposition of thoughts with an impact on effective presentation skills.
