Stages dharna at Higher Education Council
Hyderabad: The Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU) staged a dharna in front of Higher Education Council here on Monday over delay in Eamcet counselling and fee reimbursement issue.
The agitating students demanded that the counselling of Eamcet should be conducted as soon as possible. “Although the Eamcet results were declared a month back, it’s awful that the Telangna government needs three months time to conduct counselling. Students from Telangana have been flocking to other states for better education, at least now the government has to intervene to stop exodus of students,” said Gautam Prasad, President, PDSU.
They demanded that the government should fall in according to the Supreme Court guidelines on the counselling and classes should commence from August 1. The protesting students said that Telangana government should withdraw father’s nativity and 1956 birth clause for issuing fee reimbursement. “All those who are born in Telangana and completed their graduation should be given fee reimbursement,” demanded Gautam. A Ashok, general secretary, PDSU, said that both the governments should immediately release arrears of fee reimbursement as careers of students are in jeopardy.
