Hyderabad: The certificate verification process for engineering admissions finally commenced in Telangana State on Thursday. Although the process in Andhra Pradesh had started on April 7, both the states have to complete the process by August 23.
Of 25,000 ranks called, 11,030 candidates were supposed to attend but 6,061 candidates participated in verification process till 6 pm in Telangana. In Andhra Pradesh, a total of 37,070 candidates under Andhra University and Sri Venkateswara University regions got their certificate verified, a report from the EAMCET convener stated. A total of 23 helpline centres were arranged for verification process in Telangana.
After a week’s delay, the Telangana government seems to be in a hurry to finish the verification. 25,000 students are being called on daily basis for the process. It is learnt that due to improper planning and lack of infrastructure, parents and students were at the receiving end at the helpline centres in Telangana. Engineering aspirants were made to run from pillar to post as different ranks were allotted to different helpline centres in Hyderabad.
According to sources, servers in some helpline centres did not work. A few students who moved to neighbouring states for admission were confused and tensed as they submitted certificates in the colleges. Officials at the helpline centre made it clear that candidates without certificates would not be allowed to take part in the process.
