Suncity School launches International Academia: Gateway to the Globe
Taking a cue from the rising demand for education at par with the global standards, Suncity School launched its international section ‘International Academia’ today.
Gurgaon: Taking a cue from the rising demand for education at par with the global standards, Suncity School launched its international section ‘International Academia’ today. The international section will offer world-class Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate in Secondary Education) programme and IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma programme. The IGCSE program will commence from August 2016 whereas the IB program will commence next year in 2017.
The international section was launched by Ms. Rupa Chakravarty, Principal, Suncity School and Mr. Sidney Rose FRSA, Head, International Academia. Dr. Ranjana Bhatia, Principal, Amity Institute of Education was also present along with parents and other dignitaries.
Mr. Sidney Rose FRSA a distinguished educationist with International Education experience spanning over three decades has been roped in to head the international section of Suncity School. He has worked in many countries and cultures with many curricula- including UK, US, CBSE, IGCSE, and IB. He has worked with the Ministries of Education and educational institutions in countries advising them on education policies and procedures.
Mr. Sidney Rose FRSA , Head –International Academia said “ I am delighted and honored to join Suncity School and lead the international section, which will eventually be housed in its own purpose-built facility and will include a state-of-the –art Design and Technology area as part of a Creative Studies department. I look forward to helping take Suncity School to new heights of education in India.”
Mr. Michael O’Sullivan, Chief Executive of Cambridge International Examinations, said: “We are delighted that Suncity School is in our global community of Cambridge IGCSE schools and we look forward to a long and productive relationship with them.”
The demand for education under international curriculum is on the rise in the millennium city, the reason being the huge number of expatriates in the city and that of the Indian parents who want their children to be educated in the Ivy League institutions and other Institutions of international acclaim. A child who has undergone school education under these international boards is bound to get an edge over those who haven’t. A presentation was held for parents who intend to admit their children in the upcoming academic session. The aim of the presentation was to convey the benefits of enrolling in this rich and rewarding curriculum. The presenter stressed on the fact that this system of education makes the children reflective. This being the era of technocrats, excellent teachers from Australia and all around the world are being hired. Another plus point which is bound to attract parents is that all comes at a decent fee compared to other schools in Gurgaon and won’t burn a hole in their pockets.

The launch came to an end with an investiture ceremony. Council members like the head girl/head boy were selected. All the Council members received their badges from their mothers. Other than that the academic toppers of 2015-16 from 6th-11th standard were felicitated.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program are both two-year courses of study. One leads into another. The IGCSE curriculum is modeled after the British GCSE programme while the International Baccalaureate Organization are headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and have offices worldwide. The IGCSE is largely subject and exam-based while the IB has exams and a coursework element and additional required components.
