State students continued their dominence in the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Mains, first of the two tests for entry into IITs, Mupirala Viswa Virinchi of Hyderabad emerged top with 345 marks out of 360 marks, Anagh Prasad of Ranchi has also stood at Number 1 with same mark, The second and third positions have been bagged by AP students, Mohammed Owais Khan scored 341 marks and stood at Number 2 followed by RJ Vishal of Visakhapatnam with a score of 340 (3rd rank).

According to a rough estimate from Dr P Narayana of Narayana Group of Institutions, more than 20% of state students will get qualified for the JEE- Advanced, the all important entrance exam to get into IITs, which will be held on June2, Viswa Virinchi is a product of Srichaitanya and Narayana Groups (Chaina) and so does Owais whereas Anagh Prasad and Vishal have been coached by FITJEE, another top rung IIT academy of country- wide network. According to preliminary reports, Sibbala Leena Maduri of Tirupathi, a student of Chaina, emerged top among girls with a score of 336 marks. The director of Narayana Group, Sindhura said it is found after a random processing of marks, Leena is the only girl with such a good mark, Narayana and Srichaitanya which formed as Sarvani Group have claimed that more than 120 of their students have secured above 30o marks out of 360 in open category alone.

FITJEE claimed that from Andhra Pradesh alone 564 of its candidates have got selected for JEE Advanced. Other Coaching Institutes like Bhashyam, Delta Academy etc have also announced that many of their students had crossed the cut off mark to be eligible for the JEE Advanced. The list is not final and 1.5 lakh shortlisted candidates from all the states will be allowed to write the final exam,. The marks of Intermediate (plus two) of all Boards will be given a weightage of 40% and the JEE Mains marks will be given 60% and the combined score will be calculated, The final merit lits of IITs will be prepared by July 7, There are more than 10,000 seats in 15 IITs across the country.
