Veteran Congress leaders in Nalgonda district are lobbying to get Assembly and Parliament tickets for their relatives. Here are the leaders who are trying to bring in their relatives into the political field:
Ramreddi seeks Bhongir for son
Nalgonda MLA Komatireddi Venkat Reddy, who was successful in getting Bhongir MP seat for his brother and ensuring his win in the 2009 elections, is making efforts again to get the MP ticket for his brother and the Nalgonda MLA ticket for himself. The Ramreddi brothers have been representing two districts politically for nearly three decades. Of the two, Ramreddi Damodar Reddy is already MLA of Suryapet and was also a minister earlier. His son Ramreddi Sarvotham Reddy is lobbying with the party leadership for Bhongir MP seat.
Jana Reddy ‘Son’ stroke
Senior leader and Nagarjunasagar MLA Kunduru Jana Reddy is one of the few leaders who have the credit of serving as minister for very long time. He had steered the Congress as an elder brother during the Telangana agitation. He had also faced a lot of criticism and allegations during the agitation. He had expected the post of Telangana PCC chief, but had to face disappointment as the post was given to Ponnala. He is now trying to retain his MLA seat from Nagarjunasagar. He is also trying to get the Miryalaguda MLA ticket or the Nalgonda Parliament ticket for his son Kunduru Raghuveer Reddy.
Palvai pitches for ticket to his daughter
Palvai Govardhan Reddy had got the Rajya Sabha seat in a dramatic manner. He had successfully countered the tirade launched against the Congress by other parties during the Telangana agitation. Palvai was MLA from Munugodu earlier. He was also a minister at one point of time. After getting the Rajya Sabha seat, he has taken up intense lobbying with the Congress high command to get the Munugodu ticket allotted to his daughter Palvai Sravanthi.
Uttam Kumar for his better half
Uttam Kumar, who has the credit of taking up several development programmes in his earlier constituency Nalgonda and the current constituency Huzurnagar, is making all efforts to get Huzurnagar ticket allotted to him and the Kodad ticket to his wife Padmavathi in the ensuing general elections. Uttam Kumar is already known to be a loyal Congressman. The party leadership had recently appointed him as Telangana working president.
