New Delhi: On Friday, the Supreme Court has issued an interim stay on the municipal polls counting and declaration of the poll results. The case has been adjourned till April 7. The state Election Commission has been ordered to submit the necessary details before the next hearing on the case.
It is evident that the High Court of Andhra Pradesh has early given green signal to declare the results on April 9, immediately after finishing the counting of votes. Nevertheless, the petitioner has argued that the declaration of the results may adversely influence the electorates in the looming general elections. The apex court has taken up the case on Friday and issued an interim stay order.
