Hyderabad: The beleaguered APCC leaders led by the chairman of the campaign committee K Chiranjeevi on Tuesday decided to enlist the support of the fans of the mega star in the election campaign.
Accompanied by APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy and former minister Vatti Vasant Kumar, Chiranjeevi met members of fans association from 13 districts of Seemandhra at the former Prajarajyam Party office and had a three-hour long meeting with them. This exercise assumes importance in the wake of the entry of Pawan Kalyan into politics which had threatened to divide the fans.
The meeting decided that the fans will also be part of the election campaign and will attend all the meetings to be addressed by Chiranjeevi.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, the PCC Chief said that the party would give membership to the fans from Wednesday and continue the exercise till April 15. It is estimated that about 7.50 lakh members from the 1500 registered organisations would be inducted into active politics.
Stating that about 10 lakh fans would be joining the party in the next two weeks, Raghuveera Reddy said that the members would be given party posts and also tickets to contest elections. The PRP contestants in 2009 election would also be invited into the party and would be given due importance.
Chiranjeevi called his supporters to submit their applications indicating their choice of constituency.
