Another Hyderabadi makes city proud: Srilekha bowls over Sachin

The prodigious music director composed an anthem for the Indian Soccer League team Kerala Blasters FC, owned by legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar

While the city is still rejoicing the success, another Hyderabadi, music director MM Srilekha, hogged the headlines with her composition of anthem to Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s football team

It was a proud moment for music director MM Srilekha when legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar unveiled the jersey, logo and anthem of his Indian Soccer League (ISL) team Kerala Blasters FC at Kochi on Monday. The composer’s tunes were selected as the anthem for the team from a huge list of songs by noted music directors from across the nation.

“I have always been a big fan of Sachin, right from my childhood. To get an opportunity to compose a song for his team is an incredible feeling. I was chuffed to bits when I heard that my composition was selected as the anthem for the team. I sincerely hope that the song would inspire the team to perform well to clinch the title,” said Srilekha.

The prodigious music director, who has composed music for 75 movies, stated that she was floored by Sachin’s humility.

“I had brief interactions with him once before and then again at the launch. He was very humble and it was a great experience,” said Srilekha.

Speaking at the launch event, Sachin Tendulkar said that the song composed by Srilekha was very inspiring. He lauded her for being an inspiration to women, as composing tunes for 75 films is not an easy task and wished that she would complete a century soon.

Renowned Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani sang the anthem and gave a live performance with Srilekha at the launch event. The Kerala Blasters FC would be taking part in the ISL, which would be starting shortly.
