Ola launches 20-minute food delivery service

Ola, formerly Ola Cabs, has launched its Ola Cafe food delivery service starting with Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Mumbai. Users can select their choice of meal from 'top rated' restaurants near them, and expect delivery in 20 minutes.

The service is only available in specific meal timings, with lunch from 12pm to 3pm, snacks from 3pm to 7pm, and dinner from 7pm to 11pm. The company says the Ola Cafe service is accessible via the upgraded version of the Ola Cabs app, however, the apps currently available on the App Store and Google Play do not yet offer the feature at the time of writing.

Ola says once users upgrade, they will see an option alongside ride types called 'Cafe', within which they will see a location-specific menu offered to them. They can then choose to pay using Ola Money or cash on delivery.

As with the cab and auto service, users are advised to call the delivery person after placing the order to confirm the specificities of their address, or alternatively wait for a call once the delivery person is in the vicinity. Users can also track their order within the app's map. The Ola Cafe service for now is limited to ordering from a few localities in each city.

In Hyderabad, it is Hitec City, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Jublilee Hills, and KPHB. Users can cancel their Ola Cafe food delivery orders on the app or by calling the hotline before it is delivered. Cancellations will not be accepted after the order has been delivered.
