Each of the 27 frames at the newly-opened Aakriti Art Gallery in The Cultural Centre of Vijayawada beholds the spectators. The centre at Madhu Malaxmi Chambers at Mogalrajpuram has three constituent wings viz. Aakriti- art gallery, Sahiti- literary centre and Samskriti- cultural center, to encourage arts of the State.Aakriti showcases paintings of 12 reputed and upcoming artists with varied themes on mixed media in its initial exhibition. Artist Anand K Bekward portrays nature in water colours while HR Das’ vibrant bulls painted on canvas with acrylic, has been drawing many visitors.

Jagannath Paul used charcoal and acrylic to depict ‘Ballerina’. Three wood sheet prints titled ‘Silent Fields’ by Soghra Kurasani confine to abstract themes.Renowned painter Ganesh Pasupuleti’s art work, though untitled, depicts rural life with vivid details of roasters and flowers which recall rustic life.Kaushik Raha’s streetscape in water colour on paper showcases urban life with realistic expressions. A sudden shift to a folk theme coupled with love is depicted in two of the acrylic by Subrata Das.

Only one painting (untitled) of mixed media by Datta Bansode portrays the Buddha and Gowthami, the first nun with the subtle lines and little contours on the robes reveal sublime nature of the Buddha. Two sets of paintings done with powder pigment on archival paper titled ‘Binary Truth’ and ‘Sable and Azure’ by Hetal Chudasama, are geometrical in nature but abstract in depiction. Anand Panchal’s untitled acrylic work depicts a young couple in figurative art, differs from the rest of the paintings.

Another interesting zoomorphic figure by Jaya Prakash, represents the creativity of the artist. The Cultural Center offers a feast to art connoisseurs in its spacious of art gallery, first of its kind in the city.The gallery in the future will host art exhibitions by eminent artists of national and international repute that will definitely stir the building talent in and around Vijayawada. The hand crafted bags are also kept on sale in the center.
