Every summer Yashoda Hospitals extends an opportunity all the young and aspiring doctors to work along with some of the best doctors in town. In this context, the fifth edition of Young Doctors Camp was conducted this week. Dr R Chandrasekhar, chief operating officer of Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, elaborating the objectives of the programme, said, “Vital decisions like career choice cannot be made in vacuum.
Therefore, we came up with the idea of Young Doctors Camp to offer invaluable hands-on experience opportunity to all the students to work together with eminent doctors in a superior hospital environment.” “The unique camp has gained so much of craze among young students and parents alike that its popularity has spread across Maharasthtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu apart from the two Telugu speaking states,” he added.
Of the 2,000 entries received, 105 students were shortlisted based on merit. They were divided into three batches and allotted to three hospitals of Yashoda Group in the city. The camp was successfully and simultaneously held in three hospitals for four days.
Trainee doctors were made to wear an apron and a stethoscope to make them feel as if they are doctors while participating in the camp. They were also introduced to the world of medicine that includes hands-on experience on a range of medical realms.
Following various expert doctors they were led to operation theaters, in and out patient wards, diagnostic facilities, pharmacies and nursing stations to understand various medical systems that are part of a health care institution. All the participants were given certificates and mementos on the eve of closing ceremony.
