The Telangana State Formation celebrations have evoked a massive response from across the sports fraternity. Events have been lined up in various disciplines, including badminton, carrom, chess, golf, hockey and football, among several others

The gruelling heat conditions may come as a major handicap for people from all walks of life, but come Thursday a section of them will have the time of their life when the three-day Hyderabad Water Sports Regatta gets underway at Yacht Club of Hyderabad in Hussain Sagar.

The inaugural Hyderabad Watersports Regatta., under the aegis of Telangana Sailing Association, will be unique in its own way at it will bring together a multitude of water sports events, including rowing, kayaking, sailing and canoeing. In addition to the races and the excitement they bring along, a unique feature of the ensuing event is that the National Rowing Federation, headed by Col CP Singh Deo, will demonstrate a fast and slow synchronized Rowpast with 70 of their ace rowers (drawn from Artillery and EME regiments and Telangana Sports School) under the overall mentorship of Dronacharya awardee and National coach Ismail Baig.

Young sailors from Yacht Club of Hyderabad and Secunderabad Sailing Club will participate in the sailing championship that commences on the 4th morning. According to B P Acharya , Prinicipal Secretary, Sports and Tourism, ‘We are committed to transforming Hussain Sagar into an International destination for recreation and competitive sport.’ Micheal Mullins, US Counsul-General’ will give away the prizes on June 6.
