A state-of-the-art mechanised laundry was inaugurated by the South Central Railway general manager at Kacheguda on Sunday. With a capacity to churn out 12 ton laundry per day, it is expected to meet the requirements of Secunderabad and Hyderabad divisions of the zone.
Developed at a cost of Rs 10.5 crore in 20,000 square feet railway land, the laundry has LED lighting. The 10,000 pre-fabricated structure has the option for scalability and for expansion of machinery.
It is developed on the Build Own Operate & Transfer (BOOT) model and the contract was given to Supreme Laundry Services Joint Venture Pvt. Ltd., Secunderabad. The laundry can wash 24,000 bed sheets, 12,000 face towels and 12,000 pillow covers per day.
One of the unique features of the laundry is the eco-friendly steam boilers for energy efficient and pollution free generation of steam, and value-added systems installed for recycling and re-use of condensate steam to save on raw material consumption.
300 M3 per day softener plant ensures proper washing of linen and brightness of water. There is also a 50 KLD effluent treatment plant (ETP) for waste-water treatment and re-use of water. The laundry also has a 200 KVA Genset for 100 per cent power back-up.
