Senior interventional cardiologists from Apollo Hospitals Dr V Surya Prakasa Rao, head of the department, cardiology and Dr PLN Kapardhi, director, Cathlab Services, along with renowned CTO experts from Japan like Dr Etsuo Tsuchikane, Dr Masahiko Ochiai, Dr Masahisa Yamane, Dr Toshiya Muramatsu, Dr Yuji Hamazaki and senior interventional cardiologists Dr Gerald Werner and Dr George Sainos from Europe performed 14 live cases of complex CTO procedures.
CTOs are hard and tough to dissolve heart blocks which completely close the artery space and have been existing for several months or years. The complex procedures performed included RCA CTO, LAD CTO, LCX CTO, Antegrad and Retrograde techniques. All the cases were successful, no morbidity and mortality was reported and the patients recovered. The workshop was transmitted live for delegates at Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow.
