Be it classical dance, ballet, flamenco, tap or toe dance; Gaysil Naubert is ever ready to choreograph something unique to entertain the evolving audience in India and that includes the film audience. “ I am going to do a high intensity dance sequence in a film ‘Yahan Ameena Bikti Hai’. This film is being shot in France, Gambia, Senegal and Togo. I had earlier worked for the film, ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ with Hrithik Roshan and it was a great experience,” shares Gaysil. “Work has been progressing even in Tollywood. I find people from Telugu industry punctual.”

Films just happened later. She has been performing for music albums and it was a long period of dedication and staying inspired that led to where she is now. “I do many shows with Kathak dancers and also my husband Nash Naubert, who is a flautist and disciple of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. I am also a part of the album ‘The Magic Flute’ by Grammy nominee Ronu Majumdar. Creativity is a continuous process and constant hard work and desire to do something new and different will always put you in the process.”

“As far as the profession of dance is concerned, any young new aspirant should come to the field only if they have patience to wait for rewards and fame. It takes a long time to even perfect ‘dancing on the toe’. Money does not come in this profession instantly. One has to continuously keep doing projects, keep proving oneself in every program to move up the ladder. It’s a very slow process,” she adds.

In addition to dance, she also sings Jazz and enjoys every moment of it. While comparing India with the west, she says, “India is still nascent in terms of the much needed infrastructure and pre-program arrangements and planning. Abroad, you get more than the required sound, system, lighting, technicians and plan schedules, much in advance, for a proper work out. Things are changing in India too, but there is still a big gap. We still have a long way to go. Entertainment industry is growing very fast and audience is open for new ideas. That’s the icing on the cake for any artiste.”
