Apollo Hospitals initiated an awareness campaign on the occasion of \'World Hepatitis Day’, which was observed on July 28. Doctors explained causes and symptoms of all forms of hepatitis (A through E) and various treatments and preventive methods for the same.

They outlined the need for safe drinking water and clean food for the control and eradication of these viruses from the country. “315 outbreaks of viral hepatitis have been reported from 2010 – 2013 and 99 outbreaks only in 2013,” said Dr KS Soma Sekhar Rao, senior consultant medical gastroenterologists department.


“Increasing the awareness about these viruses their mode of transmission and awareness of the availability of treatment to the general public plays a vital role in control and eradication of these chronic viruses from our country,” said Dr Naveen Polavarapu senior consultant medical gastroenterologists department.


Cine hero Nandamuri Kalyan Ram and Apollo Hospitals, Jt. MD, Sangita Reddy, formally launched the campaign, Dr Hari Prasad, CEO - central region and other senior consultants were present on the occasion.
