Faults unavailability of teaching staff on campus

Former MP Dr Yalamanchili Sivaji on Friday found fault with the unavailability of teaching staff of Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU). Dr Sivaji met representatives of the committee that is probing into the suicidal death of architecture student M Rishiteswari and submitted a representation to the members.

Citing reasons for the ills on the campus, he said that the absence of teaching staff had given chance for the unruly elements to take advantage. “Rishiteswari’s death was the result of the un-academic practices of both the teaching staff and the students,” he observed.

The former MP regretted that the university’s negligence. “The university has no rules of its own till date,” he said and observed that the university was absorbing rules of Andhra University as and when required. “The university had also failed to introduce new courses or provide academic assistance to the colleges,” he said.

Dr Sivaji appealed to the government to shift the university from the present campus and hand over premises to the Central government. Stating that the campus is located in the capital area, he wanted the government to shift this university and give the land for Central University.
