Speaking after flagging off the walkathon, Municipal Commissioner G Veerapandian appealed to people to pledge their organs after death. “Organ donation helps give a new lease of life to critically ill patients.

The endeavour of Jeevandan to educate people on the importance of organ donation deserves appreciation,’’ he said. University of Health Sciences vice-chancellor and Jeevandan chairman T Ravi Raju said, Humans can give a new lease of life to six chronically ill patients by pledging their organs.

Jeevandan is striving to bring about a change in the attitude of people towards organ donation. There is a significant rise in the number of organ donors in recent times due to the sustained campaign of Jeevandan.’’ NTRUHS Registrar S Babulal and others were present.
