The greatness and glory of Telugu language had been stressed at the 153rd birthday celebrations of Gidugu Ramamurthy, a popular Telugu scholar of the yesteryears, organised by the district administration at the local Revenue Kalyanamandapam, on Saturday.

Participating in the observance of 'Telugu Language Day', Guntur West MLA Modugula Venugopala Reddy said that the sweetness of the language should be digested by Telugu people living in the state and abroad and handover the great legacy of leaders like Ramamurthy,

Gurajada Apparao and Kandukuri Veeresalingam who spread the sweetness of the language and remained as lamp posts of a great language and culture. “Teachers,” he said “should impress their students on the pride of the language.”

District Collector Kantilal Dande in his presidential address stated that Gidugu Ramamurthy took pains to spread the use of simple Telugu language by using colloquial terms and popularising people's language. The glory of the language should be spread. The love for foreign language should be replaced by Mother Language.

MLC AS Rama Krishna commenting on the latest trend on falling in love with the foreign language hope that Telugu will not be a dying language. Thadikonda MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar said that every Telugu person should be proficient in reading and writing in Telugu language.

Great literary writers S Gangappa, PV Subba Rao and Dasari Chandrasekhar were also honored by the collector. DRO Nagababu and RDO Bhaskar Naidu were present.
