The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) Employees Union called off their strike on Tuesday afternoon after the elected ward member, accused of manhandling a staff, apologised in front of the board.
The employees embarked on a strike on Monday protesting against ward member 8 Lokanadham who allegedly held junior assistant P Ramesh’s neck and pushed him to a table when the latter refused to sign to sanction water connections. A case was filed with the Marredpally Police following the incident.
On Tuesday, Telangana & Andhra In Charge, Sub Area Command, Brig. Ajit Singh Negi, and SCB CEO Sujatha Gupta. The president convened an emergency meeting of the employees union and the board members.
After hearing the issue from both sides, he cautioned the board members to behave properly and not indulge in frivolous activities. He also warned that disciplinary action will be taken by the Defence Ministry if such incidents reoccur in the future.
Later Lokanadham apologised to the victim in the presence of Negi and Sujata Gupta. In view of this, Mahender, president of union, called of the strike and resumed duties.
