Tanushree, a young disciple of senior and renowned Bharatanatyam guru Hemamalini Arni gave a brilliant Arangetram at Satya Sai Nigamagamam on Sunday.

She is a student from a junior college in the city, and an aspiring engineer who is also learning Carnatic music. The orchestra first rendered a prayer in Hamsadhwani, "Vatapi Ganapati" invoking the remover of obstacles. Alarippu in Tisram was a fine performance and the dancer expressed herself to pure rhythm.

The central Varnam was in Ragamalika, the composition "Pachai Mamalai" is by Tondarapodi Azvar. This outpouring of the Vaishnavite saint beautifully describes his yearning to glimpse lord Ranganatha, for whom he has surrendered all his earthly possessions.

The artiste in her Abhinaya conveyed the emotions of the devotee delicately. Neelakantha Dasa's song "Ananda Natamaduvar Thillai" in Rupakam is a praise of lord Nataraja's dance in Chidambaram highlighting his consumption of the poison, which threatened to consume creation, thus saving the world.

"Bhavayami Gopalabalam" in Yaman Kalyani is by Annamacharya, a charming composition on Baby Gopala. The recital concluded with a brisk Thillana in Khamas. Dr K Vishwanath and Tanikella Bharani were the chief guests for the occasion. The orchestra with Sangeeta Kala, Renuka Prasad, Ravi Kiran, Sai Kumar and Sridharachari gave excellent support.
