Online learning space
An interesting point came up during the survey was the online learning space and collaborative learning is gaining popularity. 19% of the respondents use video chat to learn a new hobby and 28% go online to do school assignments.
The smartphone generation
According to the survey, smartphones are the most coveted electronic gadget (84%) amongst Hyderabad teens. However, it is interesting to note that desktops/ home PCs and laptops are the most popular mode of accessing the internet (48%) followed by smart phones (33%).
Blue Canary spreads its wings
Twitter is one of the trending social media site used by the teens with 45% respondents having twitter accounts.
Traditional media still a ‘hit’
Overall, TV and newspapers were the most used means of consuming news (80%) followed by links from friends/ family on Facebook (42%) and online sources (41%).
Facebook tops the chart
Facebook leads (used by 83%) followed by Google+ (used by 74%). However, Google+ was more popular among the girls (used by 78%) than Facebook (used by 67%).
The online shoppers
91% of the respondents said that they shop online. Books (62%) were the most popular buy for Gen Z closely followed by electronic gadgets (59%) and movies/exhibitions/event tickets (55%).
The blooming ‘Whatsapp’
Whatsapp is the most popular instant messaging platform (66%) used by the Gen Z in the city. It is distantly followed by Google Hangouts (12%) and text messages (11%).
An hour spent everyday online
75% of the respondents spend at least an hour everyday online. 37% of them respond to notifications once a day and 31% respond within half an hour of receiving them.
