Khammam: CPI district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao on Tuesday said that efforts would be made to strengthen the party by taking up people’s issues and bringing pressure on the State government to implement development policies.
Speaking to the media, the Hemanth Rao said, “Winning and losing is common for every party. In the local body MLC elections, the CPI party had given a strong fight to the ruling TRS.
We also proved that unlike other districts, Khammam is not going to tolerate the one-sided politics of TRS government. By luring many people’s representatives of the Opposition parties, the TRS won the elections but morally it is a victory for the CPI.”
Hemanth Rao criticised the YSR Congress party for contesting the election knowing well that it did nothad any chance of victory. The YSRCP had contested the elections only to help the ruling TRS in an indirect manner, he lamented. Criticising the CPI (ML-ND) for boycotting the elections, the CPI leader demanded the party needs to give an explanation to the people as to why it had taken the decision to keep away from the elections.
CPI district leadersPotu Prasad, Shingu Narasimha Rao, S K Janimiya and Mohammad Salaam were present along with others. The left party suspended the people’s representatives who got elected on CPI symbol but voted for the TRS in the MLC elections last month.
The suspended members were MPTCs Janagam Padma of Samitishingaram in Manugurumandal, Sakaboina Surekha of Pagideru, Thadikamalla Umarani of Chinnagopathi and S Shailaja of Gygollapalli along with the Yellendu Councillor Gurram Sandhya and Madhira Councillor Puchhakayala Dattavenkatanarayana.
