Hyderabad: MLCs will continue to be the ex officio members for the GHMC mayoral election. Governor ESL Narasimhan on Thursday gave his approval for the Ordinance issued by the government making the MLCs as ex officio members.
As per the ordinance, all MLCs who are registered as voters in GHMC limits would be eligible for voting. It may be mentioned here that Congress spokesperson Dasoju Sravan had filed a petition questioning this in the High Court and the case has been postponed to Monday.
The petitioner had objected to the inclusion of all MLCs in the list of ex officio members as per the GO NO 207. The Ordinance assumes importance in the back drop of this situation.
