On the second day of the four-day ‘Muddy Soles 2016’, an inter-school sports event being held in Kollur, hosts Open Minds along with The Kennedy High School stood top in the medals tally on Thursday. The games played included shotput, long jump, track events 100 m and 200 m; relay race, Chess, Tug of War, football and basketball.

Inaugurated by Col V Ramulu, Secretary, AP Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutes Society, the event encourages students to play with the spirit of competing with oneself rather than competing with others.

‘Muddy Soles’ is conceptualised in the background where physically activity is becoming rare for kids due lack of public spaces, such as playgrounds and parks, which is rendering kids to opt for virtual games as opposed to real games; the objective of the event is to bring children from virtual games to real games.

About 300 students from 40 schools like Indus International, Glendale, Chirec, Meridian, Manthan and Kennedy Global took part in the event. The meet will go on until February 6, which will conclude with a friendly cricket match between parents and schools staff of the host school, Open Minds.
